In the classroom we focus on subject material that does not speak about what kind of people or what kind of personal habits and traits we hope to inspire in our students. As a teacher, I have known intuitively for a long time that my job has been to help develop student’s spirits, personalities and whole beings.
This progress report or Character Report Card is based on the KIPP Academies’ Character Report Card and is currently being tried in my classes. I hope to let my students know my intention is to ask for certain behavior. I care about what kind of people they are and who they will become. I also want them to know we should be speaking out loudly about our character and how that relates for their chances for happiness and true fulfillment in our would.
